Musa was dragged before the magistrate court by the Department of State Service for committing an offence punishable under Section 298 of the Kogi State Administration of Criminal Justice.

The prosecution counsel, Yahaya Olanrewaju, has filed an ex parte motion supported by an 18-paragraph affidavit seeking an application for an order of the honourable court to remand the suspect, Ibrahim Musa, in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Koton Karfe.

Musa was said to have been arrested with nine Android phones stolen from their victims while his gang members fled the scene immediately.

The victims also told a story of how they were attacked with  a machete and other dangerous weapons by the armed robbers before taking away their phones.

“The suspect also volunteered in his statement claiming that he belonged to the eight-man gang of armed robbers based in Mararaba, Abuja.

Musa was caught in the act while others took to theirs heels.” the counsel posited.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Mopa Andullahi, granted the prosecution counsel’s application to remand the suspect in the custody of Koton Karfe Medium Correctional Centre.

He stated that “having heard the exparte motion and the 18-paragraph affidavit and having seen the merit in the application “I hereby grant the order seeking to remand the suspect for only 14 days and be returned to court on August 12, 2024.
