The popular viral video regarding pipeline vandalism near the Aboru neighbourhood of Ipaja, Lagos, has caused some concern among Lagosians. However, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has allayed their concerns by labelling it as a false alarm.

In a statement, LSFRS director Margaret Adeseye pleaded with the public to dismiss the footage.

In the video, a male voiceover warned the state’s authorities to save the neighbourhood if the vandalism led to a fire incident by stepping in to save it.

According to Adeseye, the Service originally sent its firefighters to the stated address, but all efforts to track down the incident were unsuccessful because it did not take place in the region where the viral video claimed it did.

According to her, further inquiry revealed that the viral video depicts an ancient occurrence that took place nearby on October 30, 2020.

Adeseye pleaded on the populace to disregard the popular video and carry on as usual without being afraid.
