In connection with the death of a bolt driver named Obasi Okeke in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has detained three suspects.
According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, who is parading the suspect in Abuja, the victim was found on June 5 at Ngugu near to Area 11 Garki Abuja, laying in a pool of blood with a cut throat.
He claimed that a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrator of this heinous act resulted in the arrest of the three suspects, Obasieyene Inemesit Inem, Aaron Anthony, and Alasan Ayomide Olusegun, all of whom are Bingham University students and are currently on academic suspension.
According to the Commissioner, it was found during the inquiry that the deceased was a bolt driver who had been hired by one of the suspects to drive them to the Guzape Area of Abuja, where they had gone to purchase Indian hemp.
“When they got back to their starting place from Guzape, they realized they didn’t have enough money to pay for their journey. They made the quick decision to pull a fast one by pretending the dead had received a debit notice on their phone, but the deceased swore he hadn’t.
“During the dispute that followed, one of the suspects pulled a knife, slit the victim’s throat, and then fled the scene. Since then, all three suspects have admitted to the crime and will shortly face charges in court.
Haruna also reported that Nyanya division agents detained Abdusalam Mohammed Abubakar, a scavenger known as “Babanbola,” for kidnapping a three-year-old boy.
According to him, the suspect lured the little child, and when the boy followed him with all of his scavenging supplies, the suspect was suspected and on the verge of being lynched by enraged mobs in area “B” Nyanya.
“The culprit was detained, and the boy was rescued. He confessed to the crime over the course of the investigation and named one Abba as his co-conspirator who convinced him to find a youngster for him. The boy who was saved has now been given to his parents, and the culprit will shortly face charges in court, according to the FCT Police Commissioner.
