Broadcast companies are under a mandate from Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, to use their extensive national reach to communicate the truth about the real state of affairs in the nation.

Broadcast organizations, he claimed, ought to reorient their audience toward harmony, peace, and progress.

During his familiarization tour of ministries, the Minister delivered these remarks on Wednesday, the second day of the tour.

Regarding Radio Nigeria, the minister said at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) that it is the best broadcast media company in the country and a well-known and reputable media brand in homes all across.

He pointed out that Radio Nigeria has made incalculable contributions to national progress and democracy, as well as to enlightening and educating Nigerians and fostering ties across the nation’s diversity.

The Minister assigned Radio Nigeria the responsibility of serving as a platform for propagating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ideas and the achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda to listeners in Nigeria and international arenas.

In the twenty-first century, he said, technology has changed the game much more than it has in the past. He pointed out that media companies like FRCN need to prioritize technology in order to survive in a crowded market.

The Minister commended Voice of Nigeria (VON) for their efforts in reaching a worldwide audience and offering a forum for international discussion in eight major languages, all of which are essential for Nigeria’s foreign policy aspirations and public image.

By deploying a huge Rotatable Transmitter, VON has made significant advancements to increase its reach, he said.

In order to make sure that Nigeria’s voice is heard and understood throughout the world, he urged them to employ cutting-edge technology to extend VON’s footprint, particularly online.

In addition, he stated, “VON will function as our actual platform to spread to a worldwide audience the principles of our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as the accomplishments being documented under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The minister noted at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that NAN is the country’s news distributor and a global distribution channel for positive news from Nigeria, and that it has made incalculable contributions to the popularity and standing of our country abroad.

With NAN “serving as our bridge with the rest of the world, and bringing to global audiences our rich cultural diversity and our dynamic economy,” he said, our national identity and values have been effectively projected on the international scene.

The Minister was greeted and given a tour of their various organizations by the Director General of FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman; the Director General of VON, Osita Okechukwu; and the Acting Managing Director of NAN, Mr. Abduhadi Khalil.
