The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has endorsed Senator Godswill Akpabio, a Christian second-term Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the upcoming 10th National Assembly, for the position of Senate President.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has already backed the senator for the position in the 10th National Assembly.

Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, executive secretary of MUSWEN, stated that the decision was made to have an inclusive zoning arrangement ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly leadership.

According to MUSWEN, this reassuring move comes at a time when some sections of the polity are already worried about the Muslim-Muslim presidency.
