The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has begun an in-depth investigation into the shooting of three people, including two students and an admissions applicant, as well as the kidnapping of a female student who attended the state-owned Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic in Lafia. The investigation is being conducted at the request of the state command.

On Monday night, heavily armed individuals stormed Ombi 1, a residential neighborhood for students located two kilometers away from the polytechnic, and abducted a student. The student’s whereabouts are now unknown.

The kidnappers attacked other people during the course of the shooting spree that lasted for almost an hour, and then they took the student hostage.

Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the event to our correspondent in Lafia on Tuesday. He stated that officers of the command raced to the scene of the attack as soon as police officers in the area received information about the occurrence.

According to what he had to say, “Yesterday around 10:30pm, a distress call was received that an armed robbery attack was taking place in a house at Ombi 1, Lafia.”

“As soon as the report was received, officers were dispatched to the location as soon as possible. Upon arrival, it was found that three different people had sustained injuries. The victims received medical attention at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia, which was rushed to them by the police.

It was later determined that one person was missing upon their (the police’) return to the location of the event. A comprehensive investigation into the matter has been started by the command.

Nansel continued by saying that members of the command’s police force were currently on the hunt for the criminals in order to guarantee that the victim would be recovered unharmed.

In spite of this, an investigation conducted by ProbitasNews showed that a female student simply known as Taye Ajoke, an ND II student in the Science Laboratory Technology Department of the polytechnic, was abducted by the gunmen at precisely 9:20 p.m. on Monday night.

Other people who were hit by bullets include Freedom Luka, a student in the first year of the Higher National Diploma in Public Administration; Ogwuche Janet, a student in the second year of the Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management; and Danladi Nicholas, a male applicant to the polytechnic.

In the meantime, an inhabitant of the rented hostel called Love and Peace Lodge, which is located outside the school premises where Ajoke was kidnapped by the bandits, told our correspondent that Ajoke’s captors had called to demand a ransom of fifty million naira.

The source stated that the bandits called Ajoke’s phone on Tuesday morning and wanted the money. The source also stated that the bandits did not listen to their appeal when they stated that they were students and did not have the money to pay the ransom.

The source reported that it took the cops more than an hour to arrive at the scene. At that point, the assailants had already led Ajoke away from the scene down a dirt road in the woods. As soon as the police arrived, they assisted in getting the three injured people to the hospital as quickly as possible so that they could receive medical care.

“They actually sustained gunshot wounds, and they are currently being treated in a government hospital,” the statement read. However, the kidnappers reached out to us through phone this morning (Tuesday) at precisely seven in the morning. They contacted us through the phone that is now in possession of Ajoke, and they are seeking N50 million in exchange for her freedom from captivity.

“We pleaded with them to understand that we do not have money because we were still in school, but they did not agree with our appeal. “We pleaded with them to understand that we did not have money because we were still in school. Instead, they insisted that we get back in touch with them when we were in a position to talk about the issue.
