The Labour Party has advised its followers across the country to pack their homes with essential things ahead of organised labor’s scheduled indefinite strike.

According to Probitasnews, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, may shut down the country’s economy on October 3 in order to press their demands for better working conditions.

The Labour Party leadership also proclaimed support for the proposed indefinite strike in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

According to the party, President Bola Tinubu’s administration is unconcerned about the hardships that have befallen the country since the elimination of gasoline subsidies.

The party bemoaned that the country’s economic reality has resulted in the withdrawal of some kids by parents who are unable to pay their children’s school fees.

“The party fully supports the resolution of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, to embark on an industrial action scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 3rd,” the statement says.

“The Labour Party is surprised that the government claims to have removed petroleum product subsidies and that it now generates over a trillion naira per month, but finds it difficult to address workers’ demands.”

“Every day, Nigerians face harsh economic realities in which inflation is approaching 30%, a dollar costs more than N1000, and per capita income has declined.”

“Many families are withdrawing their children from school due to an increase in school fees, while criminal activity is on the rise.”

“We believe the Nigerian workers have demonstrated sufficient patience and understanding.” We are also using this means to inform all of our members and supporters that they must store their houses with basic necessities in preparation for a long-drawn mass action until victory is achieved. There will be no retreat or capitulation.”
