On Saturday, August 26, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum announced the provision of N36.4 million as consolation for the 1,215 members of the Youth Corp stationed in the state for their national duty.

They will each receive N30,000.

The governor went to the NYSC orientation camp over the weekend, four days after he had attended the reopening of the camp in Maiduguri and the swearing-in of the youth corp members.

He looked over a guard of honor they had mounted before speaking to them.

Additionally, Zulum provided 10 cows, 10 bags of 100 kg beans, 10 gallons of cooking oil, 100 bags of rice, and 10 bags of 100 kg beans for the ongoing three-week orientation camp of the youth corp members.

We wish to provide palliatives to National Youth Service Corps members, he said, adding that everyone of you would receive the sum of N30,000, which will be paid to your accounts as soon as I have your bank information.

Additionally, we have given you 10 bags of 100kg beans, 10 bags of 100kg grains, 10 litres of cooking oil, and 10 bulls, he said.

The governor instructed the corp members to abide by the camp’s rules by maintaining good relations with one another and taking actions that will promote national harmony.

“I want you to be devoted to and obedient to legitimate authorities. Make friends in this region of the nation, Governor Zulum advised, so that together we can create a successful Nigeria with sustained economic growth and development.

The governor expressed appreciation to the federal government for enhancing security in Borno State, which allowed the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri to resume operations after a 13-year hiatus.
