On Saturday, the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) watched the first video testimony that Mr. Peter Obi and the Labour Party had brought before them.

In the CA/PEPC/03/2023 petition, which contests the results of the election that put president Bola Tinubu in office, Obi and his Labour Party (LP) are the petitioners.

Respondents include Bola Tinubu, president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kashim Shettima, vice president, and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The two videos were shown to the judge during the petition hearing, which was resumed on Saturday.

The court had previously allowed the flash drive containing the videos as evidence.

The two videos were made in response to subpoenas that were served on the ChannelsTV station on May 30 and June 6, respectively.

The videos featured discussions about election preparation with Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of INEC.

Festus Okoye, national commissioner and head of INEC’s information and voter education committee, was the second.

Through Mr. Lucky Obowo-Isawode, a witness from Channels TV who had been subpoenaed, the videos were presented.

While opposing the videos, each petition respondent saved their final written responses for their final written addresses.

The petitioners submitted evidence from EC40GEU from six Benue local government areas through their attorney, Jubrin Okitepa.

They also submitted a copy of the form’s certified true copy from INEC for Benue, along with form EC40OG(1) from one local area of the state.

All of the evidence was marked and admitted by the court.

However, they all held off on responding until their final written addresses. All of the respondents’ solicitors objected to it.

The five-member panel, presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani, continued hearing the petition on Tuesday.
