Police apprehend 1005 perpetrators, free 171 abducted victims, recover 600 stolen animals in Katsina

According to the Katsina State Police Command, it has detained 1005 people in connection with 853 recorded criminal crimes during the course of the previous four months, from June 1 to September 30, 2023.

According to the Command, 395 of the 1005 cases are presently being prosecuted in several Katsina State courts that have the necessary jurisdiction.

In the same time frame, the Command claimed to have successfully freed 171 abducted victims, neutralized five alleged abductors, and retrieved a sizable cache of weaponry, including 6 locally manufactured firearms, 4 AK-47 rifles, and 517 live rounds of ammunition.

During a press conference on Monday at the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters, Assistant Superintendent of Police Abubakar Sadiq, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), revealed this on behalf of Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar Musa.

 

According to ASP Sadiq, of the 1005 suspects, 53 were detained for robbery, 82 for kidnapping, 73 for murder, and 90 for rape. An additional 707 were arrested for a variety of offenses, such as drug possession, cult membership, inciting unrest, and gang-related actions.

The Katsina Police PRO also revealed that the Command found over 600 allegedly rustled animals and a sizable amount of stolen cars and motorbikes during the time under consideration.

During the review period, the Command also found and confiscated the following drugs: 568 D5 tablet sachets, 180 wraps of dried leaves that seemed to be Indian hemp, 23 Exzole tablet packets, 411 Rebozel tablet packets, and 5 packs of Diezole tablet packets.
