Five persons under the custody of the Niger State Police Command were found in possession of a human skull.

The accused admitted to the police that an Alfa had sent them to bring the skull for ritualistic financial objectives.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed this information in a statement released on Friday and stated that it was impossible to locate the Alfa.

Two of the suspects, Isah Mohammed, 26, and Idris Mohammed, 28, both of Sakpe village, Edati LGA, who were previously detained, allegedly brought the other three suspects to them, according to Abiodun.

While on normal patrol at the toll-gate along the Bida-Minna road, agents of a sister security agency stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer at around 12:30 on the 11th of this month. While searching the occupants, they detained two suspects.

The two suspects were taken to the Police Area Command, Bida for questioning and more investigation after it was discovered that they were in possession of a human skull wrapped in a Bagco bag.

“During police questioning, the suspects stated that they obtained the human skull from their village and named Ibrahim Jiya, age 18, Suleiman Usman, age 22, and Abdullahi Usman, age 24, as three other people who helped excavate the cemetery where the skull was found. All of these individuals have the same address as previously mentioned.

The skull was discovered at the Sakpe village burial site, and the three suspects who had been detained also admitted that it belonged to Ndako Daniyan, a resident of the same village who had passed away three years prior.

“Three weeks ago, Isah and Abdullahi claimed to have met one Alfa Suleiman from Kwara State at Bida who told them to get a human skull for money ritual purposes and instructed them to take it to someone in Minna with thirty thousand naira only, while the unknown recipient said that they should call him and he would meet them when they get to Kpakungu,” An Abiodun said.

The five suspects, according to the spokesman, have been moved to SCID Minna for a covert investigation and assiduous prosecution.
