A boy who has yet to be identified is being held by the Kogi State Police Command for allegedly burying his younger brother alive.
The suspect claimed he was only following his mother’s instructions, who allegedly asked him to punish his brother for stealing.
SP William Aya, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed to our correspondent that the boy had been arrested.
“We are aware of the incident, and the young man has been arrested.” “The investigation into why and how such a thing could happen is still ongoing,” Aya said.
According to Probitasnews, the incident occurred in the Apamisede community near Army Barracks in the state’s Adavi Local Government Area.
For stealing N10,000, the suspect was said to have buried his younger brother alive.
However, the victim was fortunate in that some neighbours noticed the strange development and came to his aid.
The suspect was said to have told the neighbours that he decided to bury the boy alive so that he would not flee after stealing as he usually does.
He claimed their mother went to church but left him instructions to punish his brother.
According to a police spokesman, the victim had previously stolen some valuables and fled his home for two months.
He went on to say that he only returned a few days ago, stole N10,000, and tried to flee again, but was apprehended, and the mother left instructions for the brother to punish him.
