Wale Adedayo, the impeached Chairman of the Ijebu-East Local Government, has once more been taken into custody by Ogun State police.
On Monday afternoon, Adedayo posted on his Facebook page to announce his arrest.
Adedayo claims that the state government’s purportedly submitted appeal to the police led to his incarceration.
“At Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Police CID is receiving the son of guy. It’s said that a petition was written against me by the state administration.
“I take the patriarchs’ route if it leads to death. Well done, Olodumare!.
After accusing Governor Dapo Abiodun of embezzling council monies in a letter to Chief Olusegun Osoba and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Adedayo was fired from his position.
Prior to this, the state administration filed a petition charging the former chairman of inciting remarks, leading to his detention by the Department of State Services for almost three days.
A few days after Governor Abiodun threatened to hold Adedayo accountable for slandering him, Adedayo was arrested on Monday.
Two things happened: first, Adedayo ruined my reputation by lying about me in both my capacities as governor and Dapo Abiodun; second, he attempted to instigate the populace against the government. “Wale Adedayo must respond to each of these accusations individually,” Abiodun had stated.
When contacted, Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, stated she was unaware of the arrest and that she would respond as soon as she had more information.
