Following the recent NASDAQ bell-ringing ceremony, in which President Bola Tinubu was initially portrayed as the first African leader to participate in the famous tradition, the Presidency has issued an official apology.
It was revealed that a former African leader had already rung the NASDAQ bell, contradicting Tinubu’s initial claim of unprecedented achievement.
The error is regretted, according to a statement issued by the State House yesterday.
“Based on information provided by a third-party event organizer, we inadvertently referred to President Bola Tinubu as the first African leader to ring the bell at NASDAQ on Wednesday in New York.”
“We have since discovered that this information was/is incorrect, as a former African leader did indeed have the privilege,” according to the statement.
