Prof. Busari Shaamsuddeen Akande, an education expert, has concluded that among the numerous reasons why young Nigerians and their parents continue to seek higher education in Ghana and Togo despite the high prices are the countries’ safe environments, the need for certain talents in certain industries, and a high-quality electrical supply.
Speaking in a Sunday interview with our reporters in Calabar, Akande is the Secretary of Council for the American Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership, which is situated in the US state of Kentucky.
“Young graduates with the necessary skills to support key industries are produced in these smaller, neighboring countries.”
“There is no striking problem in Togo or the Republic of Benin. High-quality electricity is available, the environment is safe, people coexist peacefully, and university courses are specially designed.
According to Akande, a nation’s enormous size has no bearing on its ability to educate its citizens.
He said that tiny countries recover and develop more quickly and can implement all the innovative reforms more quickly.
According to him, universities should specialize in order to produce graduates who are highly qualified and knowledgeable in the disciplines they choose.
“Not where mass communicators are produced by law graduates from the University of Agriculture and School of Legal Studies.”
“There is a management university in the Benin Republic that specializes in management sciences.”
In an effort to reduce the reliance of universities on government funding, Akande suggested strategies for drawing investors into the nation’s education system.
He emphasized that some strategies to attract investors include focusing on early childhood development and early literacy, expanding higher education through various financing channels, and improving the quality of instruction.
“By encouraging autonomy, the nation can raise cultural awareness, hire qualified teachers and instructors, and hold the educational system accountable,” he stated.
