Victor Uwajeh, a former Special Investigator for the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIPP) and an international investigator based in the United Kingdom, has urged President Bola Tinubu to step up the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Uwajeh, who served as a consultant for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), wants the Bola Tinubu administration to concentrate on having government officials and politically exposed individuals recover stolen money.
According to Uwajeh, recovery should concentrate on the following areas:

Oil subsidy fraud

Liftings of crude oil and a lack of remittances

SWAP agreements for crude oil

Offshore Agreements for processing Crude Oil

False Duty Waiver

Subsidy fraud for rice

Uwajeh also suggested in his press release that the Bola Tinubu administration look into all Federal Agencies of Government for egregious fraud.

Victor Uwajeh, an evangelist, also counselled President Bola Tinubu to have the political will to combat impunity and corruption in Nigeria. In Nigeria, theft of public funds has become widespread, and thieves operate with impunity because they know that their crimes will go unpunished.

The Bola Tinubu administration must also put “Presidential Executive Order No. 008 of 2018, (Amended 2019) on the Voluntary Offshore Assets Regularisation Scheme” (“VOARS”) into effect.

The government will benefit greatly from the implementation of this Executive Order, and it will fundamentally alter the way politically exposed individuals and their allies acquire assets.

Uwajeh also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his selection of security chiefs, particularly Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who is a knowledgeable and trustworthy fellow countryman.

Uwajeh likewise counselled President Tinubu to reject mediocrity when choosing members of his administration. Excellence and capacity must be his guiding principles.
