Sa’adatu Liman, 19, was allegedly beaten and doused in hot water by two sisters, Fatima and Zulaihat Sani, after she was accused of having an affair with one of their husbands in the Gida Dubu region of Bauchi State. The sisters were detained.

The sisters were detained by members of the “C” Division under the direction of the Divisional Police Officer, according to Ahmed Wakil, the state police public relations officer, who confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.

“On June 10, 2023, around 2pm, police detectives attached to the ‘C’ Police Divisional Headquarters of Bauchi Metropolis, acted on credible information available at their disposal stating that on the same date around 1.07pm, one Sa’adatu Liman, 19, of the Gida Dubu neighbourhood of Bauchi, was tricked into a house by one Fatima Sani, 17, and her sister, Zulaihat, 15, both of the Gida Dubu neighbourhood.

“They conspired, beat Liman, and then doused her in hot water. She consequently suffered critical injuries to her neck and cheekbones. The suspects committed the horrible deed on the grounds that the victim was dating one of the suspects’ husbands.

“Upon receiving the event report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer reached the location, apprehended the offenders, and quickly sent the victim to the hospital for medical attention.”

In the course of the inquiry, the perpetrator and her accomplice confessed to the crime, according to Wakil, who claimed they would be charged in court and prosecuted for the alleged established violations as a result.

The PPRO also reported that on June 10 at approximately 10:10 p.m., some unidentified gunmen raided Balma village and abducted Alh Hussain Sale, the 42-year-old village chief.

“Haruna Jibrin, 38, who also lived at the same address, was shot during the siege. When the culprits saw the police officers approaching the settlement, they became disorganised.

“Meanwhile, efforts are being intensified to arrest the culprits. The injured victim was rushed to the Ningi General Hospital for medical attention,” he said.
