ABUJA—President Bola Tinubu has pleaded with the nation’s legal professionals to recommit to providing services that will advance the country.

As he opened the Nigerian Bar Association’s 2023 Annual General Conference in Abuja, the President emphasised that such rededication must begin with a shift in perspective and a complete determination to national progress.

This occurred at the same time that Mr. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of United Bank of Nigeria, UBA Plc, stated yesterday that Nigerians must work together for nation-building to provide brighter futures for youths.

The conference’s theme, according to Tinubu, is “very appropriate and pertinent” to our current national circumstances.

The president stated: “We must do it correctly. Why do we still lack despite being so fortunate? Modify your perspectives. We frequently lament the past, but is that the answer? No.

“Look ahead and be resolute. God endowed us with free will and a creative mind. Nigeria is our nation, our birthplace. It is our duty to construct it, the president continued.
Additionally, he asserted that his administration will work successfully with the private sector, which he characterized as the engine of prosperity and economic growth.

According to him, such collaboration would guarantee that Nigerians would receive the benefits of democracy.

President Tinubu thanked the NBA for giving him the privilege of declaring the conference open and expressed his confidence that the nation will get better soon given the kind of individuals he had appointed to his cabinet as Ministers.

President Tinubu stated that he expected “a shift of mentality and approach to government” from his ministers.

Elumelu must work with Nigerians to build the country.

Let us approach the work of nation-building with unflinching commitment, led by the ideals of unity, inclusivity, and growth, Elumelu stated at the NBA’s annual general meeting in Abuja.

Let empathy, steadfast resolve, and the desire to leave a legacy of advancement, harmony, and hope for future generations characterize our pursuit of nation-building.

Elumelu emphasized that investing in young people, women, the power industry, security, social infrastructure, and the Nigeria brand is necessary for nation-building since it includes a fundamental renovation of Nigeria’s social and economic infrastructure.
“At its root, nation-building is the complex process of creating a cohesive, peaceful, and united society out of varied people, cultures, and beliefs,” he stated. It involves the skill of creating a collective identity, goal, and vision that goes above all individual interests.

“The quest to transform Nigeria requires our united commitment, bridging political allegiances, ethnic boundaries, and socioeconomic differences. One that is not only our government’s duty.

Great people, not just great leaders, are the foundation of great nations. For this national regeneration and nation-building, it is imperative to engage and empower our commercial sector, our philanthropies, our civil society, and all of our citizens. It is imperative that we work together in harmony to rebuild Nigeria.
